PATERNITY TESTING

We can determine the relationship present between a child and his or her alleged father. This test can be performed without involving the mother.
Paternity testing is about finding the biological relationship that a child and their father shares. Such a test is often conducted as a ‘Duo’ or a ‘Trio’ test. As the term implies, a ‘Duo’ test involves the alleged father and child while in a ‘Trio’ test, the mother is involved as well.

GRANDPARENT TESTING

This test is for determining the possible relationship between the alleged grandparent and a child. It can be performed with or even without the father and mother.
A grandparent test is a good option to go for if the alleged father is deceased, isn’t willing or available for testing.
The individuals that can take part in this test are:
The mother, child, and two grandparents.
The child and two grandparents.
The mother, child, only one grandparent.
The child and only one grandparent.

AVUNCULAR TESTING

This test is for determining any existing relationship between an alleged father and a child. It can be conducted with or even without a mother.
When the alleged father is deceased, isn’t willing, or unavailable for DNA testing, the paternal aunt or uncle of the child (which are the siblings of the alleged father) can be used instead. The genetic evidence of such a test can be amplified if the mother is involved.

SIBLINGSHIP TESTING

Used for determining any existing genetic relationship between alleged siblings. It can be conducted with or even without the father or mother. Through this test, the extent of siblingship can be uncovered.
You can get to know whether or not the tested individuals are full siblings, half or entirely unrelated. It is advised that the mother should be included in the tests to strengthen the final results.

MATERNITY TESTING

This test is for analyzing the genetic relationship between an alleged mother and a child. This test can be performed even without a father.
A maternity test can be conducted if the mother of a child needs to be determined. This test is similar to the paternity test. A father can be involved in the test even though it’s not completely necessary.

IMMIGRATION DNA TESTING

The citizens of the United States along with lawful permanent residents are able to file a petition with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services or even the U.S. Embassy for their parents, spouses, siblings, and children to immigrate to the States.
This process must be initiated with an AABB Laboratory.

FAQs

Do are the DNA samples collected?

The entire DNA collection process is painless. The complete procedure takes less than a minute and involves rubbing a sterile swab inside your mouth for collecting cheek cells.

How accurate are paternity tests?

The DNA test result is 99.99% accurate (case of inclusion) if the alleged person is indeed the biological father of a child. However, if the alleged individual isn’t the father, the test is 100% (case of exclusion).

Are there any options available if the alleged father isn’t available for a DNA test?

In such a case, you have the options of Sibling DNA testing, Grandparent DNA testing, and even Avuncular testing.

What is a chain of custody?

In simple terms, ‘Chain of Custody,’ refers to the DNA sample’s proper control or custody during the entire testing process. It involves a third party (a neutral one) to identify, collect the DNA sample, and test them as well.
The DNA samples and the accompanying paperwork are then to be delivered to the specified testing location without any tampering. A qualified laboratory is then responsible for handling the DNA and the paperwork.
During the testing process, the sample IDs are tracked as well as documented. This also helps a laboratory to ensure the production of notarized test results which can also be used in the court of law.
